Resources

There are some useful free learning materials here for Word, Excel and many other programs.

Volunteers

Volunteers are needed to help people learn how to use a computer, access the Internet, send an email, shop on-line, use a tablet, laptop, mobile phone or digital camera.

To become an IT Buddy you don’t need to be a technical wizard, but you should be able to:

  • Use the Internet confidently e.g. searching, shopping on-line or using on-line forms and set-up email

  • Use a range of digital technology such as tablets, smartphones or digital cameras

  • Be encouraging, empathetic and a good listener

  • Give between 1 and 2 hours every other week to help someone gain digital literacy skills
